Just Another Manic Molly Monday

I watched a show about a book several months ago called “Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?” (http://www.amazon.com/Does-This-Clutter-Make-Butt/dp/1416560165) and when I first heard about it I thought it was crazy. What does one have to do with the other? Now that I have had a while to think about it and how it applies to my life, though, I think it is right on. When I wake up in the morning and my house is in order, I feel like my life is in order, and that things can just flow…including my workout and my eating right. When my kitchen is dirty and dishes are piled up in the sink, I am much more likely to just say “forget it!” and run for the border! (I know, that isn’t the slogan anymore, but I didn’t think “run out and think outside the bun” had the same ring to it!)
Which leads me to my next point; I am a terrible housekeeper! My mother was immaculate. She still is, actually. Everything has a place and it goes in its place as soon as she is done with it. Granted, she had only me (the perfect angel child, of course) and I have three children whose sole mission in life is to make sure they don’t have one matching pair of socks anywhere in the house. I came across a website not too long ago called Fly Lady http://www.flylady.com which gives tricks and tips on how to keep your home in order. I did it for a while and I must say, it really does help. It does, however, remind me of the days of having my mother tell me what to do all of the time which caused me to rebel against Fly Lady in ways I’m not proud to discuss here. Poor Fly Lady, she was only trying to help!
Do I have a point? No. But if I did, it would be this….think about these things as you go through your day. Are there a few things here or there that you could do to make life easier and help you keep your house clean? Do you think that would help you control your eating/exercising/attitude? I know it affects mine…and I think my family knows it too!
By the way, while you’re cleaning, if you find any kids’ socks you don’t recognize, send them my way!!

I have the same kind of relationship with my mother, but over cooking. She can always whip up something for you within seconds no matter who shows up. I just refuse. I can make a few things from scratch, but almost everything else is from a box.
