Sweet Sesame Chicken

Filed under Food by at 11:58 am on Oct 09 2009

Earlier this week I tried out Healthy Choice’s Cafe Steamers: Sweet Sesame Chicken. The packaging is exactly the same as General Tso’s Chicken. I found this frozen meal at Meijer.

Of course, I think it needed some more vegetables added to it. There was just too much sauce and not enough food. Before I started this journey, I would have never thought that a food needed less sauce. But now things have changed. If I had any broccoli around the house, I would have thrown some in. It would have made the dish go farther.

The flavor was good. Not spicy at all like the General Tso’s chicken which I thought was going to melt my brains. This has a slightly sweet flavor. There was the rice, vegetables and chicken tenderloins. The amount of chicken was kind of pitiful. That is where the added veggies would have helped I think.

I am still trying to figure out a useful way to reuse the nifty little plastic steamer bowl and tray that this comes in.

Kristen.. I have tried several of the Healthy Choice steamers. I haven’t found one that I didn’t like yet. I have to agree with you about the sauce.. extra veggies would be great.
    Thanks for sharing.
