Trying a Different Approach

Well, I was stumped yesterday on how I was ever going to get to the gym. Now to some of you that might sound a little dramatic but I am totally serious. Meg goes to preschool every Tuesday & Thursday so I always try to at least get to the gym during that time and if not more throughout the week. Every week something comes up that throws my whole plan out the window. I had planned on going yesterday when on Monday my dentist’s office said that they could get me in to get some dental work done…. you guessed it… during my gym time. Good thing is that I had less time to dread going. (I have a great dentist but have some issues after some made experiences with a dentist as a child.)

So yesterday my frustration was at an all-time high. I had the desire to go to the gym but how was I going to make it work. So I figured I had to find a different approach. Then it hit me: I could go EARLY before I had to get Sydney up for school. Last night I added some new tunes to my iPod, charged the iPod, set out my workout clothes and shoes and set my alarm to get up at 5am. For those of you that know me well know that this wasn’t the easiest thing because my body requires a lot of sleep.

I woke up several times throughout the night. I think I was so nervous that  I was turned my alarm off and go back to sleep because I didn’t remember my plan. 5am got here way too early but I stuck to the plan. Go to the gym and low-and-behold, I was too early. They don’t open until 5:30. Ugh. I knew I would be pushing the time as it was to get home and get Sydney up and out the door so she didn’t miss the bus. Thankfully after waiting only a few minutes, they opened the door early. YEAH.

Rushed in there and got on an elliptical and cranked out three miles. Man did it feel good. I think Mondays are the only day that this won’t work because Megan & I have to be out the door so early to get to her speech session.

 I am going to try a different approach. Obviously the previous approach wasn’t getting me anywhere. New plan to get to the gym bright an early. Not sure why I started this new plan when it is so dark in the morning which makes it even harder for me to get moving.

So, what part of your journey do you need to re-evaluate and take a different approach? What isn’t working for you? Obviously my schedule kept tripping me up. Why not try a different approach?
