Countdown is On

Well, it is hard to believe that my race is Saturday! Thankfully, I am feeling much better. I still have bouts that my stomach isn’t a happy organ but otherwise, I am doing so much better. Sunday, my sister, Kerri, & I went for a run together. We have always said that we were going to “run the mini together”. So we thought it might be a good idea to actually go for a run together before the big day.
We went to Morrow’s Meadow. I so am loving that park. I was happy to discover that my Nike+ was only 0.01 off in callebration. So my nine mile run was accurate! Yeah. It has been surprising to Kerri and me that it appears that our treadmills are off. We both thought we were running a 15 minute mile. Come to find out, we have been running about a 12 m 30 s to 11 minute mile. WOW! What a moral booster.
It was SO blazin’ hot on Sunday for a run. When we finished it was 75 degrees, sunny & so windy. We ran five miles. It was not ideal running conditions. In addition, I could tell that I had battled and lost to the stomach flu. My stomach bothered me some plus I was just a little weak. But I have confidence that we will finish the entire 13.1 miles.
We are getting a little nervous about the weather. 30% chance of rain. Ugh. I wear glasses and cannot wear contacts due to a cornea disease. So rain isn’t a good thing. High 62 degrees. Low 47 degrees. A little chilly start but much better than 74 degree start. If the rain can just hold out. Friday there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms. I am just praying that those storms don’t slow down and show up on Saturday.
Today, I got in a short 2 mile run. How far I have come to think that 2 miles is a short run. Chris has told me to only run 2 miles today, Tuesday & Thursday. Trying to keep my legs fresh.
Now off to find some more running music. It is amazing to me that songs I like to normally listen to can annoy me so much when I run.

I love what you said about your perception of what a “short run” is at this point — that is so true!! Way to hang in there and persevere, Kristin!! Completing the run is such an emotionally overwhelming experience — the culmination of all of these months of training and all of these miles of running!! I’m so excited for you
I hope we see each other Saturday morning — thank you so much for sharing your journey with all of us!!

Kristen, Good Luck with your run. I have a personal question. You mentioned that you couldn’t wear contacts due to your corneas. I have a condition with my corneas and I can’t wear glasses, my is called kerracotonis (sp). I was just wondering about your condition.
If my progresses too much, I would have to have transplants of the cornea. Good luck again, I will be thnking about you and your sister from Union City, OH

Thanks Jenni! What corral are you in?
Sarah-Yes, that is the same disease of the corneas that I have.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Sometime, when you have time I would like to discuss our eyes. My eye dr said he can’t correct my vision anymore with glasses. The glasses I wore right before I got contacts–I can’t see with them at all. I would go back to glasses because my eyes are always blood shot due to dry eyes. The drops he recommended doesn’t do the trick . Maybe we can talk later. My e mail address is gmurphy2@embarqmail.com if you would like to email me. Thanks Sarah
