If I can live this way, you can too!

Oh my….

Well, today was my scheduled longest run. Nine miles. I was having serious doubts. I was so thankful that the forecast was predicting some nice weather.

I started trying to convince my friend Molly that she should come run with me. She has been following the Couch to 5K program. I thought it would be fun to have a partner in the run. I pretty much harassed her until she gave in. Molly convinced me to go to Morrow’s Meadow in Yorktown to run. She was sure she knew how far the trail was. So we met at the park.

I will admit I was nervous. Not sure why I was so nervous. Since Molly was there as a cheerleader, so she told me to run at my pace. So we set out. I had brought my Nike+ to help track my distance. After the first loop, my Nike+ was showing our distance farther than we thought the trail was. So we were stumped. Molly stuck with me for over a mile and then her asthma started to bother her & she didn’t have her inhaler with her.  I convinced Molly  to go and drive the loop so we would have an idea. She was such a good friend that she did just that. Thankfully she was wrong and my Nike+ was more accurate and we could go by the distance that it was telling me. She stuck with me for a while longer and then bailed. :-) I didn’t have enough energy to haul her back to her van if she collapsed on me.

I hit a hard wall around 5.5 miles. I wasn’t sure I could keep going. I plugged along. There was some walking thrown in. But in 2 hours 1 minute & 4 seconds I ran NINE miles. 1207 calories later, I did it. Still can’t believe it. I am trying not to focus on the fact that in two weeks I have to run 4.1 more miles than I ran today. Hopefully adrenaline will kick in some plus the fact that I do better running in the morning.

I have had a bag of frozen peas on my knees. They are starting to ache some so I think I would try to be proactive.  Thankfully I didn’t get as sick as I did last week but I still did get sick about 1 1/2 hours after I was done running.

I have a new recipe that I am making again. It was good but I think I can perfect it some. I also have a few food reviews that I will try to get posted the first of the week.

Hope that everyone has a great end to their weekend. It has been awesome in our house.
