“You’re Doing So Good, Mommy!”

“You’re doing so good, Mommy!”. I think those are the sweetest words I have heard in a long time.
Yesterday, I wasn’t able to get my run in until late afternoon after Sydney got home from school. I really had to convince myself that I needed to get the run in. I knew that I needed to but was just tired from the crazy day and not sleeping well this week. But I got my shoes on and got ready. I made the girls promise that they wouldn’t fight and would let me get my run in.
I did have to take a small little walk about halfway through the 3 miles. Oh well. If that is what it takes. So after I was done with the run, I continued to walk to cool down. Sydney & Megan came in to ask me if I was done. Then Sydney asked if I was ready for my race and I explained that I was trying but was behind in my training and that is why it is so important to get all of the runs in. (Trying to motivate myself at the same time.) Her curious mind wanted to know how long I would have to run in the race. 13.1 miles. The number still scares me. It doesn’t seem as overwhelming as it did even a week ago.
Then Sydney asked me how far I had run this week. 15 miles! 15 miles in only four runs! Sydney replied, “You’re doing so good, Mommy!”. Ahhhhhh. I love that my girls are seeing me be active. Trying to stay in shape. I pray that if they start young they will never have the struggles with their weight, body image, and self-esteem that has plagued me.
I am doing so good. And I have had four days of “perfect” on point eating.
