Running & Squash

Filed under Day to Day by at 7:07 pm on Mar 26 2009

Well, I got in a run yesterday. I was pretty happy with the 2.5 miles especially since it was the first run in about a week. I had a funny thing happen. Nothing like your treadmill going from 4.0 mph to 9.0 mph in the blink of an eye. I have been filling up our DVR with episodes of the Ellen Show. I don’t normally watch her show. But I noticed back in January that they show the name of the song that she dances to every day. So I set my DVR to record every episode. So while I was running, I fast forwarded every episode to the point where Ellen dances. While running, I would write down the song title and artist. Can you tell that I am desperate for some new running music. Well, I had 33 episodes to go through to find songs. While writing down one song title, I accidentally pushed the 9.0 mph button. What a shocker. Thankfully I recovered quickly and didn’t go flying. I quickly returned to my normal speed.

Today, I forced myself to run. I really had no motivation but I did it. My goal was to get in 3 miles and I would have been thrilled to squeak out 4. 2.5 miles in to the run the phone rang. Sydney answered it. It was for me. I stopped and took the call. What was I thinking? Duh. I am so aggravated with myself. I bailed. I was weak and I bailed. Oh well. My plan is to go to the gym tomorrow and get in some time on the elliptical. Saturday is going to be my day off. I had a mandatory staff meeting for Weight Watchers. So I am going to plan on running again on Sunday or going to the gym.

I have had a spaghetti squash sitting on my counter for over a week. I hadn’t cooked a spaghetti squash in some time. Early last fall was probably the last time I ate any. To be honest, I didn’t want to eat it. I know that I need to get better with my eating but I am just not motivated. Ugh. But I fixed spaghetti for the family and decided that I would cook the squash. I truly had forgot how yummy they were. I just put a little spray butter, Mrs Dash, and a little salt. Super yummy. It was good because for some reason I have been wanting to eat large quantities of food. (Really not good when you are trying to lose weight.) So the spaghetti squash filled that need for more food.

I think I am going to shut down the computer for the day and enjoy watching some basketball.

At least you are getting some running in!! I can only imagine you’re shock of going to 9.0 mph. I would have went flying. I have a new exercise bike in the living room that I bought second hand while in TX and then had to half take it apart and wedge it in the backseat on the way back to SC. Good thing that I had so much scrapbook stuff to wedge around it so it wouldn’t fly forward and hit me in the head!!! I could only imagine that police report!!

I’ve always wanted to try a spagetti squash. I’m not a big squash person but it looks good. It’s just too much food for just one person. I’m hung up on Cindy Walker’s sugar snap peas. That’s my new snack!! I don’t even like peas. Have you tried the whole wheat pasta??? The Barcilli is real good but the Mueller’s brand isn’t according to my daughter. It really gives pasta dishes a much better taste.
    Keep up the great job!!
