Plan B

If you remember, I had planned out my week of workouts. When I made my plan, I wanted to go to the Y yesterday (Thursday). When I made out my schedule, I forgot that I had a pre-op appointment at the hospital in the morning. So it was going to be difficult for Megan & me to get to the Y, work out, get home & clean up, get Megan to my friend who was watching Megan, & me get to the hospital. So I decided that I would get up at 5:10 AM and go to the Y before Chris had to leave for work.
Yes, you read that right 5:10 AM. I had pysched myself up for the challenge. I should have known that things were going to get even more challenging when I couldn’t sleep. I saw every hour tick by. I remember seeing 1:15am and every hour before that. Thankfully, I missed 2am but saw 3am. Don’t remember 4am. Now remember, my alarm was set to go off at 5:10. (Just enough time for me to get up, get to the Y, get 4 miles in on the elliptical and get home before Chris had to leave for work.)
At 5:05, Megan comes in to our bedroom. Ugh. Seriously? So I put her in bed with us (not a normal occurence). I tell her to “go to sleep FAST”. I think there is still hope that I can make it to the Y. Finally at 6:30am, Megan was asleep. Trip to the Y was out.
I was trying to figure out what I was going to do. I wanted to get a workout in. I was trying to figure out what I was going to do. I knew that I couldn’t go to the Y in the evening because I had a commitment. So I decided to try out my Wii Fit. It was a lot of fun. I wore my HRM but I am not sure it was totally accurate because of the spaces in between different activities. I did several “runs”. I had to run in place and “I” ran on a running path. (Kind of cool) I tried to use the hoola-hope. Ha! Now I remember why I didn’t like the hoola hoop when I was young. Then, I tried out a “step aerobics”. Let’s say the first time I did the step aerobics, it was NOT pretty. My lack of coordination was very evident. I tried several more times and thankfully I got the hang of it and really enjoyed it.
Since I didn’t get in as much of a workout as I would have liked, I decided to take the stairs when I went to my appointment at the hospital. Just figures that I had to park on the 4th floor of the parking garage. Four flight of 18 steps each. Down on the way to the appointment and up on the way to my van. Then I took the stairs to the doctor’s office which is located on the 4th floor. Those were 22 step floors. Once up on the way to my appointment and down on my out. Not too shabby. It must have worked because my calf muscles hurt so much today. Guess those muscles aren’t used much in running or on the elliptical.
Today, I used my Wii Fit this morning. I did some yoga since it was my day of rest. I also did some step aerobics again. I really enjoyed it. I used that exercise enough that I unlocked a more advanced option. I ended up using the Wii Fit for 30 minutes this morning. I would have gone longer but Megan woke up and wanted breakfast. Imagine that? LOL
All in all, I feel like the last few days were successful. My eating has been on track. I have been sticking to my points. I hope to get in a run tomorrow. That is my plan but as I have found, sometimes you just have to go to Plan B.

It is always smart to have a plan B..sounds like you made it fun. I agree, the wii can be fun and challenging depending on what you choose.

I think the Wii Fit sounds like more fun than the eliptical!!!!! My daughter surprised her family with a Wii for Christmas–totally unexpected as she told them she couldn’t find one–she also got the Wii Fit. She’s in TX—I’m in SC but I’m going there for the whole month of February so I’m looking forward to using it. I don’t know how I will do because for some stupid reason I get the giggles when I exercise. Even when I’m here alone at home. That’s why I can’t go to a gym!! They’d call out the “white coats” to get me!!! Besides I don’t live within 30 miles of a gym, so that’s out of the question. The only time I don’t giggle is when I walk the dogs for a mile–with resistance, I might add as the german shepard pulls me along. On the trip back my boxer keeps looking at me like, “Did I ask to go on a stupid walk with you????” If only, they could talk.
You’re doing great, Kristen!! You could use many excuses but you ALWAYS get a work out in!!! I inspire to be as good as you!!! Too bad my crippled back only lets me go so far!!
Keep up the great job!!
