Got some momentum

Hopefully I have gotten some momentum. Today, while Chris & Megan were taking a nap, Sydney & I headed to the YMCA. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with Sydney but I figured I would figure something out. I made her wear her gym shoes.
When we pulled in to the parking lot, it was packed. Wow. Everyone and their sister has jumped on the health bandwagon. I made a comment that the Y was packed and Sydney said “Everyone wants to lose weight.” From the mouth of babes.
I decided that I would try to get an elliptical machine in the big gym where the track was. I figured that Sydney could run on the track while I got in my workout. Thankfully, someone got off an elliptical just when I walked by. Sydney ran laps while I got in four miles. I would have liked to go at least another mile but Sydney was getting a little bored and wanted to leave. It felt so good to get that workout in.
I was so proud of Sydney. She ran a total of 1 mile while I was on the elliptical. She would run a couple of laps and come and talk to me. Then go and run a few more. She ran over 14 laps. I finally lost counts.
On the way home from the Y, Sydney & I were talking. I was trying to explain to her that it was a good idea to stay active as she grows up. I was telling her that when I got to about age 10, I stopped being so active. I really didn’t get active again until Sydney was about 18 months old. I was explaining that once you stop being active and moving very much it is much harder to get moving again. I pray that both of my girls don’t have the same struggles with their weight, body image and self-esteem that I have had to battle for so many years and still fight.
Tonight, I fixed a yummy supper of roasted gemstone potatoes, steamed broccoli, and left-over Garlic Roasted Pork Tenderloin. I think the pork tenderloin was even better left-over. It was even more tender than the night that I made it.
I have to figure out my eating for tomorrow. My week point tracker/journal is already laid out and ready. I will be counting points very carefully this week. Too lazy and slack the last few weeks in my counting and journaling.
Tomorrow I will be running.

That is awesome! What a great role model you are! I’m trying to do the same thing with my kids. We walk a fine line between teaching them about being healthy and warning them about their genes and turning them into anorexics. Surely we can strike a balance, right? Glad you went to the Y! I am impressed!

You are right, Molly. I am glad that you brought that up. I was planning on mentioning that but I got in a hurry typing because I was needed to help give the girls their shower. LOL.
There is a fine line. The one thing that I didn’t mention to Sydney was food. We didn’t even talk about it. We only talked about being healthy by moving and keeping active. Sydney is old enough that she remembers a “fat mommy” even though she didn’t call me fat.
A very fine line but one I think we can navigate.
