Kashi Pocket Bread

Filed under Food by at 7:17 am on Nov 19 2008

Several weeks ago, I spotted. It was sitting so nicely in the freezer cabinet. My excitement was building. I snagged it and put it in my cart. I couldn’t wait to get home and taste this interesting looking item.

Kashi’s Turkey Fiesta 7 Whole Grains & Sesame Pocket Bread was the object of my affection. The picture on the box looked so appealing. I had great expectations for the new item. The box described this as “turkey, black beans, fire-roasted corn, red peppers, red onions in a southwest sauce in our signature bread”. Sounds yummy huh?

That nutritional information on this item was pretty impressive: 270 calories, 6 grams fat, 4 grams fiber. But even more 15 grams protein.

There is only one pocket bread in each box. I don’t know why that surprised me. The box isn’t that big. I guess the picture of two halves threw me off. LOL

The verdict: The taste is great! I could really taste the “fire-roasted corn, red peppers and onions”.  I was excited. But then the texture of the pocket bread threw me off. Not good. Dough-y and mushy. Very disappointing. I scrapped out some of the filling and proceeded to eat that and pitched the pocket bread.

OK Kashi! The taste is great but you need to work on the texture. I will be waiting to see if you get this right.

What a disappointment. But look on the bright side–throwing away the bread lowered the points value!! :)
