Training has Officially Started

Yesterday was my first offical training run. I am working on getting a training schedule set up. I have several family members that are runners. They are working on helping me set up a schedule. Yesterday, I decided that I wanted to run at least 1.5 miles. I did it. I know that I am not going to be a fast runner. When your stride is short then you aren’t going to be fast. When you are short, you aren’t going to be that fast. I have to take a lot more strides that a taller person. I am not going to worry about my speed. I just want to finish.
I felt really well after the run. My legs hurt the most. So that tells me I need to build up more strength in my legs. Chris keeps telling me that will come with time. Surprisingly enough, this morning, my legs aren’t sore at all. My upper back and shoulders are a different story. I will be getting in a run this morning.
One challenge that I am going to have in my training is Megan. I set out some toys and puzzles next to the treadmill yesterday before I started. She did well and then started to get bored. LOL. I kept telling her that I was almost done.
Thank you for all of the comments of support and suggestions. I will be checking out the recommendations!
I was happy to know that some of you have already found the Sandwich Thins Keep your eyes open for them. They are worth the search. If you noticed, “Sandwich Thins” are underlined. Roni made a change for me in the formatting so that the links show up better. Anytime there is something unlined, it is linked to a website or a previous post that I have made. I hope that helps for those of you that had told me they couldn’t see the links.
I have been reminded in the last week, how much influence I have on my girls and their eating. Sydney asked me to make my Asian Slaw again. I made that yesterday for the girls. They both had a bowl of the slaw before we left for Sydney’s dance class.
Then even a bigger surprise. Last Friday, we all went to Indianapolis for the day since Sydney was on fall break. On our way home, we stopped a new restaurant. The girls were deciding what they wanted to eat. Sydney chose mandarin oranges as her side and Megan chose apple slices. They both passed up french fries. I was speechless for a minute. They both love fruit but I was surprised and tickled. I love that they are making healthy choices at such a young age.
OK. I need to get moving. Sydney needs to get up and moving so she doesn’t miss the school bus.
I hope that everyone has a great day! Be on the lookout for another food review later today.

Woohoo! Your kiddo’s made really good choices. I don’t know if I could have kept the fries away. They are little role models in the making.

Congratulations on signing up for the Mini!! It’s a blast and I look forward to seeing you there!! The first step is the sweetest, but it’s the final step that you’ll remember the best, and it’s vital to make it to the finishing line in one piece. Take your time, become educated about how your body works, and listen to your heart. I bet you’ll be a natural just based on your level of determination and drive clearly exhibited through your weight loss accomplishment. Also, don’t discount yourself because of your height … in running flexibility, strength (both physical and mental) and endurance have much greater role than height. Keep us updated on your training!! This is so exciting!!
