Fiber One Complete Pancake Mix
Filed under Food,Quotes by kristen at 5:19 pm on Sep 24 2008
On my recent Super Target scavenger hunt, I stumbled upon Fiber One’s new Complete Pancake Mix. Fiber One has been expanding their line of products with the addition of the muffin mixes and new bars.
Just think Bisquick Mix. Same idea but with more fiber. Besides of the additional fiber benefits, it is nice that you only have to add water. No milk or eggs needed. The box of Fiber One’s mix is smaller than I was expecting. There are only 15 individual servings of mix in the entire box.
I decided to make these tonight. Chris was gone and the girls wanted breakfast for dinner. Easy enough. Plus it was a great time to try this new mix. One cup of mix and 2/3 cup water made 6 pancakes. The batter is very runny. The box even warns that the batter will be “thin”. The pancakes turned out great. I couldn’t tell any difference between the Fiber One mix and the other mixes that are available. My girls ate them up and didn’t notice anything. We will see if they cause any digestion problems like the bars cause me and many other people.
There are also recipes on the box for blueberry, apple cinnamon, banana walnut, & oatmeal pancakes and waffles.
The box states that each serving has 20% of daily value of fiber, at least 10 grams of whole grains, excellent source of calcium and 0 grams of trans fat. Not shabby claims.
I thought it was funny that the box stated: ” Fiber One Cardboard No. Delicious Yes”.
Nutritional for 1/2 cup dry mix (3 pancakes) 180 calories, 3.5 grams fat, and 5 grams fiber.
I will be buying this again. I was very pleased with the taste & nutritional information. Has anyone else tried this? What were your thoughts? I would love to hear.

Kristen,
I haven’t tried these, but they look & sound yummy. My kids have been eating the “Whole Grain/All Natural” frozen pancakes made by De Wafelbakkers; I find them at Meijer. Similar NI; probably more expensive than the Fiber One mix, I don’t know. But in the mornings, I like frozen, pop-in-the-microwave breakfasts!
I am going to try the Fiber One, though! Thanks!

I keep waiting for it to hit the shelves around here…no such luck! I’ll keep hunting it down. Until then, the Bisquick Heart Smart mix isn’t too bad.

I just found this yesterday and couldn’t wait to make the waffles! My first thought was that when they were cooking was that they smelled so much better than bisquick! I can’t say enough about this mix.

It made it to Columbus, and since my hubby had dental work done tonight, pancakes seemed like a logical choice! I made the Bisquick Healthy mix for everyone else, and made the Fiber One for me…I put a 1/2 capful of vanilla in mine, and Oh my were they good! Had it waith Log Cabin’s sugar free syrup, and it filled me up good!!! LOL! I’ll be having these again!

I’m so excited to try these – I’m doing Weight Watchers and am supposed to be on a high fiber diet – and these fit the bill! I just saw that they are on sale at our grocery store and there was a coupon in the paper this last Sunday! Based on your reviews, I’m SUPER excited to go buy them and try them!!
Thanks for your opinions on this!

Thank you for posting the nutrition facts for the Fiber One Complete Pancake Mix, because it was not on the Fiber One website.
I appreciate it!

I just bought these yesterday and my grandpa and I had them for breakfast this morning. I put fresh strawberries in the batter when it was on the griddle and then flipped them. They were DELICIOUS…I’m on weight watchers so these are just perfect for me! Definitely will buy as long as they keep making them.

I make this for my kids and they LOVE it. I add banana and craisins to the batter (or blueberries) and they eat them up! YUM!

I just bought the box last week without having heard anything about them, but I am a big fan of all Fiber One cereals. Also, I must say this is the first pancake mix I ever buy for the home. These are DELICIOUS! So much so I made them for breakfast yesterday and today. I eat them with peanut butter for the protein fix, and keeps me full longer than any other breakfast. No hunger at all for over 4 hrs. Highly recommend them!

I came across these today at Big Lots. $2.30/box. I look forward to trying them and glad to see the good reviews here.

DELICIOUS! I add a little cinnamon and some blueberries, but the mix is also great without add ins. I was stunned when the pancakes came out so big and fluffy after seeing how runny the batter was. I’m hooked!

Glad that everyone is liking these so much!

I add overripe bananas that I keep in the freezer already mashed & frozen flat (so I can just break off a hunk). I also add a dash of vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and 1/8 tsp. of baking powder (extra fluffy).
I also use the mix to make my chicken & dumplings.

We just bought 2 boxes for our week at the shore. My kids are wary of experiments, and can tell when I sneak whole wheat spaghetti in with their regular pasta, so I was tentative. (although they eat WW bread, go figure). And I was concerned that we needed to make the whole box, at +$4 from Acme in DE, it seemed pretty expensive.
Anyway the results over 2 breakfasts and 12 family members was overwhelmingly positive. The kids chowed, and actually ate less quantity than Bisquick, which is a dbl win when you factor the saved calories from extra syrup that goes with the extra pancakes they didn’t eat. My sister felt they were better than Krustees (?) too.
I hadn’t noticed the fullness factor until I read the comments above. Next time I will pay closer attention to that because I’m always hungry by 10 without a protein for breakfast.

I love pancakes. I don’t like FiberOne Pancake mix!
I’m surprised to hear people give such good reports on the taste. It really lacks taste, very bland and fairly dry. Very disappointing.
While it may be convenient that you only need to add water, this makes for a bad pancake. I strongly encourage modifying the recipe to get better moistness, texture, and flavor. (my first recommendation is not to buy this product at all though).
How to modify the recipe for better success (you don’t need to use all of these suggestions, you can pick and choose and just use one, two, or all):
**use milk instead of water
**add 1-2 tablespoon of veg. oil depending on how large of a batch you are making
**add 1/2 to 1 pack of instant oatmeal, depending on how large of a batch you are making, for texture and flavor
**add 1/2 soft whole wheat flour and 1/4 tsp of baking powder
And FYI – the best pancake mix sold is, IMHO, Aunt Jemima’s whole wheat – it’s actually very soft, light, fluffy, but with some taste (it’s not heavy and “nut and twig” like).

David’s taste buds must have been lacking something the day he tried these.
I have been waiting forever for someone to come out with a great tasting yet low fat and high in fiber pancake and finally Fiber One did it. Now all we have to hope is that it doesn’t get pulled from the market…I told my mom and siblings and they all went out and bought it and love it!!
We are on Weight Watchers and this fits the bill!!!

I love them. I add veggies like carrots into them for my little guy to get a little extra serving of veggies and I couldn’t even taste them. The batter is sweeter than bisquik and cooks up better as well. Oh and for those used to the frozen pancakes in the morning. I fix a whole box, freeze and microwave for 20 secs. in the morning. They are ready to roll.

Digestive problems from eating the cereal bars are likely caused by extraordinarily unhealthy eating habits — the body gets used to eating a certain way and drastic changes, even temporary ones, can be discomforting.
I love the pancake mix and cereal bars. They make a mean frozen muffin and muffin mix as well.

I’m with david on this. I was excited about the product, but found the pancakes to be tasteless.

I just tried this for the first time. Dropped a few blueberries onto the pancakes before I flipped them. Husband liked them, so thats a good thing. I think I will add some vanilla next time. I wonder how they would be made with diet cream soda instead of water? I am going to try one of these times. Also maybe some mashed banana. I am on WW also.

YES!! I can’t get enough. I added cinnamon and raisins. I made waffles instead because I am really rushed in the morning. I cook a batch the night before and put them in the fridge so that I can just pop them in the toaster. I am just grateful that I have found something that I like to eat for breakfast. No reason to stop skipping breakfast anymore.

I’ve been using the mix a lot lately. They are excellent. My batter isn’t runny, but I add a scoop of flax seed (from Costco) and a little bit of oatmeal. They turn out thick with a very nice texture and flavor. With this method, I get about 3 medium size pancakes. I also live in a higher elevation and use cold water, so maybe that is why my batter is thick. I highly recommend this pancake mix.

use the pancake mix like flour to make your pie crust – awesome hi fiber crust

Try adding 2 heaping teaspoons of Carnation Malted Milk powder per cup of Fiber One mix. Gives the pancakes some flavor.

LOVE THESE! I think they smell like cookies baking! So yummy!
(I don’t add anything — they don’t need it — just the syrup on top!)

Tried these, not so impressed. The taste is passable with blueberries added. But there is only 20% fiber. I’m on a 1800 cal per day diet, so having two Thomas NY style Ww bagels works better for me at 56% daily fiber and only 500 cals. (Add fruit and breakfast is complete). Also, bagels are productive but no digestive difficulties. The Fiber one pancakes have not been consistently productive, but have given digestive difficulties every day I’ve eaten them.

I bought one box of Fiber One pancake mix. I never use water in products. I always use skim milk for the nutrition. I always make these with blueberries and after they’re done, I add a banana and strawberries.
I love this meal but alas I found out today that they have discontinued them.
