Finish Each Day

Filed under Journal,Quotes by at 2:45 pm on Sep 16 2008

I have tons of food reviews to post. I sent out one yesterday morning and again today. I have two more ready to just hit send. I am going to post one a day for the next week or so. I don’t want anyone to get overwhelmed with so many posts. I don’t think I will be making any new creations in the kitchen at least the first part of the week. Chris has been gone on a business trip. Then we are all leaving on Friday for Chicago. I can’t wait. This trip has sort of become an annual trip which includes a Cub’s game and a trip to the American Girl store. (Sydney has been patiently waiting for her birthday gift since the end of July.)

I read this quote and it was exactly what I needed.

“Finish each day and be done with it…You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it well and serenely.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I tend to beat myself up about past mistakes in my eating. I will never be perfect in my eating. That is fine. I am human. I try hard every day. I work at doing my best. That is all that I can expect of myself.  When I don’t do as well as I had hoped, I will do better at letting it go.

In all of the craziness, it amazes me how easy it is to get out of the routine. I haven’t been tracking my eating as well as I need to be. So I am back at it. Not beating myself up at the messy journaling. I will start  off tomorrow with a fresh outlook and not look back.

So be kind to yourself. Don’t look back to beat yourself up over the past. Be done with it. Start fresh. Begin again.

OK. I am headed outside to enjoy our beautiful weather and push Megan on the swing.  Have a great evening.

Boy, was this the perfect post for me to ready today! I really needed to know that someone else is in the same boat as me….

Thanks for the great quote! I’ll need to tape this one to my forehead!
