Vanilla Chai Smoothie
Filed under Food by kristen at 5:58 pm on Sep 02 2008
Weight Watchers recently came out with a new smoothie flavor. So far I have loved using the vanilla & chocolate smoothie mixes. It is a great way for me to get in my two daily dairy requirements. I sometimes find it hard to get in enough dairy. I love that I can get them both in with a low point options. I love chai. I am especially fond of Tastefully Simple’s Chai mix. So I was excited to try out this new smoothie.
I tried it out the first time as a cold smoothie. I mixed one cup of skim milk with one smoothie packet. I put it in my blender and let it blend for 30 seconds. Then I added in approximately 6 ice cubes. I made sure that the ice was crushed. I loved it! It reminds me of fall. It has a spicy cinnamon-like flavor. You can taste the vanilla.
Today I decided to see how I liked it warm. So I warmed one cup of milk. I added the smoothie packet. The hardest part was getting the smoothie mixture blended well. I was hesitant to put it in the blender since it was hot. Next time I think I will mix the milk & the smoothie mix in the blender then warm it. I really liked it warmed too. I think I will add a little water to it next time. It was really thick. I am not sure that I like something that is warm & thick as a drink.
Overall, I really liked the flavor. I am not sure if you have to be a chai tea lover to like this smoothie. It reminds me a lot of fall. I would suggest giving it a try. I will be buying this again!
Nutritional information for just the smoothie packet (no milk) 100 calories, 1.5 grams fat, 4 grams fiber.

OOh…a smoothie from WW that tastes like Tastefully Simple’s Chai? I am SO there…that was my treat every afternoon when my first son was an infant – he’d go down for his nap, and I’d make a cup (or two) of chai for ME. (I was nursing, I could handle the extra calories then…)
Thanks for the tip!

I really love the new flavor. I took a pack with me to work this morning. I however don’t like my smoothies as thick as most people.
So I used 20 oz skim milk and ice cubes and drank it for breakfast. I have more points than most because of my weight so a 6 point breakfast does not hurt me.

Louise, I will be trying this again warm! Make sure to blend it well before heating. It isn’t quite as sweet as Tastefully Simple’s chai but it was a good substitute. I did the same thing right before starting Weight Watchers.

Is this something that is sold at the WW meetings or is it available at the store, ie Mejier or Marsh? I love Chai.

Phyllis,
Yes, this is something that you can buy at any WW center. It has been labeled a seasonal item. Hopefully there will be enough demand that it will be kept in the product line.
