Spicy Fries (or not spicy fries)
Filed under Side Dishes by kristen at 1:22 pm on Aug 26 2008
I came up with this recipe about two months ago. I have made it multiple times and my family love them. They are a simple side dish to whip up. I have made several different kinds but always come but to this original recipe. If you don’t like spicy foods then leave out the crushed red pepper flakes and you have some great fries!
Spicy Fries
1 pound Russet potatoes, washed & dried
3/4 teaspoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper, optional
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
4 tablespoons grated reduced-fat Parmesan cheese
baking spray
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Cut potatoes in to “fries”. Toss potatoes in oil. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper, & garlic salt. Spread the fries on a non-stick baking pan. Spread them evenly. Bake for 7 minutes and then turn. Bake an additional 13-15 minutes or until browned and tender.
Now, my girls are not in to very spicy foods. Chris & I can’t get enough spicy foods. So after I toss the potatoes in oil, I add the Parmesan cheese & garlic salt. Then I divide the fries in half. I spread out one half on a baking sheet. I sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes on the remaining fries. I bake both sheets at the same time. Then Chris & I are happy and the girls aren’t crying because their mouths are on fire. When I do this, I only use 1/2 of the amount of red pepper flakes. (1/8 teaspoon give or take. usually give).

Joy,
Sounds like you made something like my roasted sweet potatoes that we had on July 4th. Yummy!
I think I am going to have to try the green beans. I have neve thought to do green beans. Hmmm.
